This is the Data Processing Notice (also known as a Privacy Policy) of SHEN Guernsey. It is issued in compliance with the Data Protection (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law, 2017 “the Law”.
We care about your personal data and ensuring you are informed about how we use it. We promise to protect your data, and to manage any information you share with us in line with data protection law.
This Notice sets out how and why we collect and use your personal data and our legal basis for doing so.
Who are we?
SHEN Guernsey is registered with The Office of the Data Protection Authority (registration number DPA7235). SHEN Guernsey is the name for Joanne Henton who is a Self-Employed Certified SHEN Therapist (International SHEN Therapy Association).
SHEN is a Complimentary Therapy for Emotional Empowerment. It is specifically a ‘physio-emotional release’ therapy using ‘Qi’, the body’s magnetic Biofield. Treatment is on a one-to-one basis for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, anxiety, depression and other emotional issues.
What data we collect
We hold name, telephone number and/or email address of our clients. We consider and apply appropriate measures relevant to the health and wellbeing of each client so that relevant treatments/services can be supplied. SHEN Guernsey does not collect your payment details. Payment is made through SumUp.
Where does this data come from?
The personal data we process is given to us directly by you. We do not collect any personal data from any other sources.
How we use your personal data
This enables us to contact our clients in response to an appointment request and to contact for any follow-up appointments that may be requested by the client. Also, we use information supplied by you so to apply appropriate SHEN Therapy treatment relevant to the health and emotional wellbeing of each client, so that relevant treatment can be supplied.
Our lawful basis for processing your personal data
In order to be able to provide you with the services you require, we use our legal contractual basis for processing your personal data and rely on our legitimate business interests.
Consent
When you provide your personal information in the course of completing an appointment booking either via direct email shenguernsey@gmail.com or via direct phone call, Whatsapp or text/imessage on 07911 766 818, also during appointment times, you are providing your consent to collect that information and use it for that specific purpose, i.e. so that we may apply appropriate SHEN Therapy relevant to the health and emotional wellbeing of each client.

Special Category Data such as medical details relating to any ailments or ongoing treatment is assessed and considered prior to and as part of the ongoing SHEN services that we provide.
Sharing of your personal data
We do not share your personal data with any third party.
Transfer of data
We do not transfer your personal data outside the Bailiwick of Guernsey.
Direct marketing
We do not use any form of direct marketing.
Retention of data
All data is retained securely on Joanne Henton’s personal computer also on Joanne’s personal iPhone in the form of text messages, imessages and Whatsapp messages. Security precautions are taken by way of usual passwords to these two devices. Data is only used for the purposes for which it was collected under the Law. Data is only retained for as long as is required to comply with our statutory obligations, in order for us to provide you with the services requested or with your consent. In any event, data is reviewed and weeded accordingly after 3 years.
Your rights
The Law provides you with a number of rights, but specifically and of relevance, you have the right to:
request confirmation of the personal data that we hold about you and what we are doing with your data
request correction of your personal data if incorrect, out of date or incomplete
request that we stop any consent-based processing of your personal data after you have withdrawn that consent

This notice does not cover any third-party websites or social media sites used in conjunction with SHEN Guernsey. We are not responsible for the actions or activities of third-party website/social media outlets. You are advised to read the data collection and privacy statements on other websites and social media outlets you visit.
